Villanova Takes Second at Lehigh Mountain Hawk Invitational

Villanova played a much improved William Paterson squad in the championship game of the Lehigh Invitational tournament on Sunday, September 24.  For the entire game the Cats battled WPU for the upper hand and no scoring occurred until the second period when WPU player Shaun McTigue put the puck past Ice Cat goalie Sean Moran in the middle of the second period to put WPU up 1-0.  After playing most of the first period shorthanded, Nova finally struck back to tie the game 1-1 on an acrobatic power play goal by Mike Ervolina who was set up nicely by Erik Waryas in the first half of the third period.  Moran played brilliantly in the third stopping 11 of 12 WPU shots until finally being beaten by WPU player Albert Campell for a power play goal late in the period.  WPU would go on to add an empty netter to defeat the Cats 3-1.
